Airports without a live number
These 84 airports publish no wait time anyone can read. Each page shows how busy its security usually is, hour by hour, from TSA's own counts. The same counts rank every airport TSA counts by people screened.

Questions people ask
Is there a way to see how busy TSA is right now?
Yes, at the 21 US airports that publish one. The table above ranks them by their longest standard security line right now, read from each airport's own feed every 10 minutes, with the time of the last read beside every number. Each number is the airport's own published wait, never an estimate made by this site. The 84 airports that publish no live wait time carry TSA's own hourly passenger counts on their pages instead, which show when a checkpoint is usually loaded rather than how long the line is.
Which airport has the longest security line right now?
At 9:50 am Eastern, New York JFK (JFK): the standard lane at Terminal 8 reads 27 min. The table above ranks all 21 covered airports by their longest standard line, and the shortest open lane at each is next to it.
How current are these numbers?
Each airport publishes its own wait times and waittimes.io reads every feed every 10 minutes. The time next to each airport is the last read, in that airport's own time zone. A number older than 30 minutes says so, and an airport whose feed has published nothing for 2 hours shows when it last did instead of a number. Nothing here is predicted.
Which airports are covered?
21 airports: Baltimore Washington (BWI), Boston Logan (BOS), Charlotte Douglas (CLT), Cleveland Hopkins (CLE), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Dallas Love Field (DAL), Detroit Metro (DTW), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta (ATL), Houston Bush Intercontinental (IAH), Miami International (MIA), Minneapolis St Paul (MSP), New York JFK (JFK), New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty (EWR), Orlando (MCO), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Pittsburgh (PIT), Reagan National (DCA), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Seattle Tacoma (SEA). Atlanta's own site forbids automated reading, so ATL, BOS, DTW, SEA and SLC come from the wait-time table Delta publishes. The 84 airports that publish no live number are listed under the table; each page shows how busy its security usually is, from TSA's counts.
What happens to TSA lines in a government shutdown?
TSA officers are excepted staff, so screening goes on through a lapse in appropriations and they are paid when it ends. In past lapses more officers called out the longer it ran, and a few airports closed a checkpoint or a lane for a day, so lines grew at some airports and not at others. The wait times on this site come from each airport's own feed and from Delta's table, not from tsa.gov, so they keep publishing while the MyTSA app may not. TSA's counts, which draw each airport's busyness map, are published through its FOIA reading room and stop arriving until the lapse ends; the map keeps showing the days already counted.

- Who reads them
- Arcane Digital, which runs waittimes.io, reads every feed every 10 minutes with its own collector and stores the time of each read. The day's reads are checked every night for a feed that has stopped or thinned, and one person reads that report the next morning. Nobody types a number in.
